Caterpillar is the world's largest
heavy equipment manufacturer
for a reason.
Started in 1883 as the Holt company,
they became known in World War I
for the distinctive tracks on their heavy tractors,
nicknamed “Caterpillars.”
The name stuck,
as did the company's reputation
for quality and reliability under extreme conditions.
A century later,
Caterpillar is much more than just tractors.
The company is known
for a wide variety of heavy-duty equipment,
from excavators to diesel engines and compressors.
The Caterpillar 143H Motor Grader
exemplifies Caterpillar's ethic
of manufacturing heavy equipment
for the heaviest jobs.
In 2002 Caterpillar introduced
a new version of the 143H,
identified by its APN prefix.
It has a VHP (Variable Horsepower)
CAT 3176 electronic engine
with air-to-air aftercooling (ATAAC).
It has an eight forward, six reverse
direct drive powershift transmission
with electronic control.
It comes standard with six-wheel drive,
a strong hydraulic system,
integrated engine compartment doors,
fuel water separator,
remote engine oil drain,
ground level fueling and coolant check,
centralized service access,
sample ports on all systems,
“lube-for-life” pump drive shaft,
advanced electronic monitoring system,
automotive-style fuses,
electronic throttle,
and air conditioned Low-Pro EROPS.
The machine has only had one owner.
Its 17.5R25 tires
are still in near-new condition.
It measures 28.6'x8.4'x10.3' (LxWxH),
with a 20.2' wheelbase, an 8.4' blade base,
a 14' moldboard,
and a standard operating weight
that totals 33,670 pounds.
It's been maintained by a CAT dealer,
and all records have been
retained since the machine was new.
It has a new hydraulic pump,
and overall, it's in very good condition.
Caterpillars have a unique place in history,
having assisted in the construction
of canals, dams, bridges and highways,
some of which are
the best-known and loved in the world.
Whether you're building
the next great wonder of the world,
or your concerns are more earthbound,
you will appreciate a tradition of quality
that, for generations,
has gone nearly everywhere,
and done just about everything.
