JCB 217S Backhoe Specs
While some of its features are standard enough
(such as the extend-a-hoe and thumb),
this is not your average backhoe.
The machine's transport dimensions are 24'6"x8'x13'9" (LxWxH)
with a 19,000 pound operating weight.
The front loader bucket is 96"x44"x24"
(2.5 cubic yards),
so it's larger than usual.
The 217S also features 4-wheel steering,
and it has 16.9x28 tires all the way around,
so it handles rough terrain with ease.
The powertrain consists of a
turbocharged 100hp JCB Diesel engine,
with a JCB Powershift transmission.
Its open center hydraulic system
provides 14,560 pounds of bucket breakout force.

JCB 217S Backhoe Condition
There are a few small issues,
none of which impair performance:
the brake pedal is low,
but the brakes still work
and will stop the machine.
The windshield is cracked,
and the boom lock is missing,
but overall, this is a great machine.

in a surplus welding machine
(augmented by a trailer
and some scrap metal salvaged from bomb shelters).
