Vessel #1 is a cargo barge,
the Kapilinakai,
USCG Doc # 1192546,
built in 2006.
She comes in at 2,436 gross tons,
is 270 feet long,
76 feet in breadth,
and 16 feet deep.
Purchased individually, this barge is $2,625,000.
Vessel #2 is the Kuppa'a,
USCG Doc # 1192547,
built in 2006.
She comes in at 1,702 gross tons,
is 194 feet long,
76 feet in breadth,
and 16 feet deep.
This barge is available by itself for $2,250,000.
Vessel #3 is the Manaiakalani,
USCG Doc # 1192548,
built in 2006.
She comes in at 3,774 gross tons,
is 270 feet long,
105 feet in breadth,
and 18 feet deep.
This barge is available by itself for $3,125,000.
You can also buy the barges as a package,
with all 3 barges priced $7,500,000.
Considerable care went into their design
(blueprints are availabe),
but this pales in comparison to their construction.
Designed for daily use
with considerable vehicular traffic,
they are built with ABS A-36 grade steel,
including deck steel that is 5/8" thick.
These barges are not equipped with spuds,
but they can be installed;
they can also be converted to work barges.
Each barge has an attached ramp.
Additional equipment, much of it boxed or palletized,
includes but is not limited to
Yokohama fenders, 30' steel light poles,
235"x137"x9.5" steel shock absorbers,
rubber plates and hoses,
assorted cables, light bulbs, chains and cables,
and three pallets of miscellaneous accessories.
Vehicle Barges for Sale
were built for the State of Hawaii's Department of Transportation.
In effect, they are a ‘bridge’;
vehicles are driven onto one of these barges,
then offloaded onto a ‘Super Ferry” for transport.
These barges were built at initial cost of $41M in 2006,
but the project was never finished,
and the state of Hawaii
deems them as surplus.
In conjunction with our partners,
we are able to offer these barges to the public.
